Congratulations to our top 3 elementary Battle of the Books teams from Greenfield Elementary, Neely Traditional Academy, and Islands Elementary for being honored with a Superintendent Recognition at the May 2025 GPS Board meeting.
The Greenfield Elementary team won First Place in the GPS District Battle of the Books and while they could not attend the May Board meeting, we are proud of their hard work in the District competition. Congrats Kaylee Bezy, Maycee Bezy, Norah Thompson, and Heather Meaux (GRE Librarian). GPS is proud of your hard work!
The Neely Traditional Academy team (called the “Synonym Rolls”) won Second Place in the GPS District Battle of the Books, is composed of Annika Johnson, Kyen Ding, Bridgette Hodges, and is led by Neely Librarian Kelli Fairchild. The Synonym Rolls got to compete in the Regional Battle of the Books competition against Mesa, Tempe, Chandler, Queen Creek, and charter school teams, where they again won Second Place. Your accomplishments cannot be understated and your dedication to and passion for reading is obvious. Congratulations!
The Islands Elementary team won Third Place in the GPS District Battle of the Books, includes Maci Ford Farra and Eliza Siders, and is led by Islands librarian Allison Hunt. While only a 2-person team, Islands was able to answer every question in the first round of the District competition correctly and their hard work paid off. We are so proud of your love of reading and this great accomplishment. Congratulations!
